Math because people might jip you in stores and if they meant to give you 1,072 dollars, if you dont know how to count, they might just give you 172 dololars, you see what i mean.

Reading is also important because if you dont konw how to read, then you wont know what someone is saying because if they're whispering, you have to read their lips.
