lyre
A harp.
"Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; make melody to our God on the lyre!" -Psalm 147:7 (ESV) "Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving; sing praises with the harp or the lyre to our God!" -Psalm 147:7 (AMP) "Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; make music to our God on the harp." -Psalm 147:7 (NIV) In context, it could be to inspire the reader to praise God for all that he's done for us, because he is totally deserving of praise and worship. To sing, or use a lyre or harp, would to just be active about it. More than just words. God was active and moved for us, so we should be able to be active and move for him, such as dancing, singing, shouting, playing instruments, etc.

A harp is similar to a couple of instruments. Some musicians say it is similar to a guitar, but in history it bears similarity to the lyre. In the way it is played it is actually similar to the piano.
They are both stringed instruments, but look very different.

the piano or a pedal harp or concert harp
the different lenghts play different pitches or notes, the longer the string, the lower the note.
For one thing, "string instruments" and "stringed instruments" are not the same. String instruments are the viol family and stringed instruments are any instrument that has strings. The piano and harp both qualify. Now, the piano is a percussion instrument that has strings and the harp is an unbowed stringed instrument.
The instruments used are the trumpet, the trombone, and the harp
