As the numerators are the same, the one with the smaller denominator is the larger fraction, thus 1/2 is greater than 1/6

Alternatively, making them equivalent fractions with the same denominator:

1/6 → 1/6

1/2 → 1x3/2x3 = 3/6

3 is greater than 1, so 3/6 is greater than 1/6, thus 1/2 is greater than 1/6
