It comes from the Sumerians.
Sumerians made several things including The Calendar, 60 minute Idea, and even created several units of measurement.
• SMV means Standard Minute Value. • It is a numerical value which is represented the standard time of a process or operation in a standard environment for standard worker. • It will be calculated by the following formula (Stop-watch system): Standard Time = Basic Time + Allowance% There are many techniques which have been developed to establish standard minute Values, one such technique is Called Pro-SMV , Professional standard minute value, this is a system based on MTM 2 developed by Methods Apparel consultancy India Pvt Limited.
Ancient Babylonians divided days sexagesimally meaning in fractions of 1/60. They measured days by 6 subdivisions (1/60 x 1/60 x 1/60 etc.) to measure units of time as small as 2 milliseconds. Hellenistic astronomers also divided days sexagesimally but also used a mean hour (1/24).Please see the related link for the answer. In brief, now we use multiples of 10. The Egyptians used a multiple of 60. This has been adopted since, as far as I believe.Because somebody decided to call one-sixtieth of a minute, one second. Earlier on, somebody decided to call one-sixtieth of an hour, one minute. Guess why there are exactly twenty-four hours in a day!It is thought that there are 60 seconds in a minute because we have inherited measures based on 60 (the sexagesimal system) from the Sumerians, who developed it around 2,000 B.C.The sexagesimal system is used in both astronomical measurements (degrees, minutes and seconds of angle) and time measurements because these are historically connected, from when time was measured by the motion of the sun and the stars.60 was probably originally used by the Sumerians because it is a number that can be divided many different ways, by 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, and also by 10, 12, 15, 20 and 30.
Minute.
from the sumerians
Sumerians developed important mathematical ideas. They also created a number system based on 60. We have them to thank for our 60-minute hour, 60 second minute and the 360- degree circle. They used geometry to measure fields and put up bulidings

well, my class just finished studying Sumer and Sumerians. Sumerians developed alot of things. they developed cuneiform which was the world's first system of writing using pictographs and symbols. They also developed the wheel which they used for pottery (potters wheel) and they developed medicines and in math, they developed a system revolving around the number 60. For example, there are 60 seconds in a minute and 60 minutes in an hour and yeah. Oh and the plow, used for farming which increased farm and food production. Thats all i can remember, but in my opinion, the most impressive is the writing development.

Our 60-minute hour, 60- minute time, and 360- degree circle
they accomplished the number 60 and that 60 is in a minute and in a hour.

Wheel, clay jars, statues. Sorry, that's all I got. :/
One thing Information Systems can address is what the financial health of the company is on a minute by minute basis. What information systems have never been able to solve is why humans manegement decides to build vehicles that they like instead of what paying customers want to buy.
Regular Minute Maid orange juice has the same level of acidity as other brands of orange juice. Minute maid has developed a lower acid formula for those who desire or need lower acid level in their diet.
