A cube has 4 vertical edges and 8 horizontal edges.

Depending upon its orientation (relative to vertical) none, 2 or 4.
Think of it this way. Looking at a cube placed on a table - it has four edges in contact with the table's surface. At each corner of that face, there is a vertical edge rising upwards making eight (with me so far ?). These vertical edges meet the face on the top of the cube (which also has four edges) making 12 in total.
The answer depends on the size of the cube.

There are 4 verticle lines in a cube :)
Do you mean vertical parallel sides? I think there is 4.
The answer depends on the orientation of the cube. If it is balanced on an edge or a vertex it has no horizontal or vertical faces. If it is resting on a face then it has 2 horizontal and 4 vertical faces.
Depending upon its orientation (relative to vertical) none, 2 or 4.
None if the cube is balanced on one of its vertices. Or if it is flat on a plane that is not horizontal. But four under normal circumstances.

a cube has the same length width and height, hence is what makes it a cube. it is a perfect square all the way around, if you know one side, you will know the vertical
A cube has:6 faces, each abutting 4 other faces4 vertical edges4 edges on each of the top and bottom faces.
Every edge that is pointing straight up and down is vertical.
A cube is one of them.
