you can't because you will not have the right results to the experiment.

  • In order to make sure you are getting good results from an experiment you should conduct repeated trials, use only one control group, have as many individuals as possible in both the control group and the experimental group, and test only one independent variable at a time.

Hope that helped!

What is independent variable in science?

Its the variable that is different between the control and test parts of the experiment.

In an experiment is the control group used to test the effect of the independent variable?

Describe the difference between a dependent and independent variable?

The dependent variable changes as a result of changes in the independent variable.Put another way,The Independent Variable is manipulated, and is known as the changed variable. The Dependent Variable is responding, and is known as the result.Example : In an experiment to test the effect of heating on evaporation, the various temperatures would be the independent variable, which will be changed by the experimenter. The amount of water that evaporates in a given time is the dependent variable, which is the data sought in the experiment.

What is a independent varible?

An independent variable is the part of an experiment that you control. You can change it and make it anything. Such as an experiment dealing with the length of time it takes certain brands of chewing gum take to lose their flavor. The independent variable would be the brands of gum you decide to test, while the dependent variable would be the time it takes those brands to lose their flavor.

What is the difference between a variable and a non variable?

A variable changes. It varies. A non variable does not change. It is constant. For example if I write a mathematical expression such as x + 1, then x is a variable. Its value can be whatever value we choose. However 1 is a non variable. Its value is 1 and never changes from 1. In a scientific experiment a variable would be something that you changed from one test to another. A non variable would be something that remained constant from test to test. As a final example: the speed at which light travels in a vaccum is a constant. It is referred to by the letter c which stands for the universal constant. However, the speed at which your car travels is a variable. It changes.

What is the one variable that is changed in an experiment to test a hypothesis?

The one variable that is changed in an experiment to test a hypothesis is called the independent variable. This is the variable that the researcher manipulates or controls to observe its effect on another variable, known as the dependent variable.

Is the independent variable the variable that is changed in an experiment?

Yes, the independent variable is the variable that the researcher manipulates or changes in an experiment to observe its effect on the dependent variable.

What variable do you purposely change during an experiment in order to test your hypothesis?

The variable that is purposely changed during an experiment to test a hypothesis is the independent variable. This variable is manipulated by the researcher to see how it affects the dependent variable, which is the outcome being measured.

What variable is the only variable that is purposely changed to test the hypothesis?

The independent variable is the only variable purposely changed during an experiment to test the hypothesis. It is manipulated by the researcher to observe the effects on the dependent variable.
