∙ 10y ago-- Measure the length, width, and height of the aquarium, in inches. -- Multiply (length) x (width). -- Multiply that result by (height). -- Divide that result by 231. -- Now you have the capacity in gallons, up to the rim.
In a rectangular aquarium, multiply the length, width, and height in inches and then divide the answer by 231 to get the amount of gallons the tank can hold.
Multiply all three dimensions to get the volume in cubic feet. Then multiply that product by 7.48 to convert to gallons.
If you mean inches, the maximum water capacity is 19.95 gallons.
To calculate the volume of water a pool would hold, you need THREE dimensions - length, breadth and DEPTH, which is missing in your question. To calculate the number of gallons of water a 20 feet by 4 feet by 1 feet pool would hold, do this: Multiply 20 X 4 X 1 = 80 feet3 Convert this to gallons [by typing "80 cubic feet in gallons" in Google] The value is 598.441 US gallons. That's your answer. If the depth is 2 feet, multiply this value by 2. If the depth is 3, multiply 598.441 by 3, and so on.
About 240 US gallons
That would be a standard 29 gallon aquarium

192.5 liters or 50.85 gallons
In a rectangular aquarium, multiply the length, width, and height in inches and then divide the answer by 231 to get the amount of gallons the tank can hold.
First measure the height of the aquarium, and the diameter of the aquarium in inches. Remember to account for the thickness of the glass, and the trim. Now divide the diameter by 2 to get the radius(r), and then multiply the radius by itself. Multiply that by the height(h) in inches, and multiply the whole thing by pi (3.14). This will give you cubic inches, now multiply that by 0.004329 to convert the answer to US gallons. In summary: Volume in gallons = (pi*r2*h)(0.004329)
The volume of an aquarium can be calculated by multiplying its length, width, and height in inches and dividing by 231 to convert to gallons. In this case, an aquarium measuring 18x18x36 inches would have a volume of 11664 cubic inches, which is approximately 50.5 gallons.
A tape measure. All you need are approximate dimensions since they come in standard sizes-usually in increments of 5 gallons.
Assuming the dimensions given are in feet, multiply length x width x depth to find the volume (cu ft) of the pool and multiply by the number of gallons of water per cu ft (7.481). V = 40 x 20 x 5 = 4000 cu ft x 7.481 = 29924 gallons

You need three dimensions to determine volume: depth, length and width.
16 x 8 x 10 = 1280 cubic inches 1280/231 = 5.54 gallons
