Apart from a couple of less advanced countries and (including?!) the US, all countries use the metric system. Since it is based on multiples of tens, calculations are simpler. Also, there are simpler links between measures for different attributes, for example between mass and volume.

Why do scientists prefer using the metric system rather than the English system to make measurements?

1) It is an international standard, so all scientists use the same measurements. For comparison, for example, different countries have different definitions of a pound. 2) Calculations are easier, because of the decimal prefixes.

What measurement unit do you use to measure a ping pong table?

You have your choice. If you like the metric system, measure your ping pong table in meters. If you prefer the English system, measure your ping pong table in feet.

Why might scientist prefer using metric unit rather than feet or inches?

Mainly to use an accepted standard (scientists all over the world use the same units). Also, it is easier to do calculations in metric units.

Why do scientists prefer to express numbers in exponential notation and metric units?

Because exponential or scientific notation needs less digits for very large numbers and metric units are preferred because they are in multiples of 10 thus avoiding mistaken calculations.

Why do you multiply in metric units of capacity?

I do because I prefer metric units. The majority of the world uses metric units but you don't have to! Just don't try trading with most people.I do because I prefer metric units. What is a system of units used by scientists that is based on units of ten?

The metric system is a system of units used by scientists that is based on units of ten. It includes units such as meters, kilograms, and seconds. This system makes it easy to convert between different units by using prefixes like kilo, centi, and milli.

Why do we prefer to use metric units of measurements over English units of measurements?

Metric units of measurement are more fun to say.

Why do you use metric and imperial system?

I was taught the imperial system whilst a schoolboy in the UK, many years ago. So I prefer imperial rather than metric. But, as metric is becoming the norm, I have become familiar with both systems.

Why might sientists prefer using metric units rather than feet or inches?

The metric system is used the world over, feet and inches are only used in a few sleepy backwaters.

Most scientists accept what kingdom classification system?

Most scientists accept the traditional five-kingdom classification system, which includes the kingdoms of Animalia, Plantae, Fungi, Protista, and Monera. However, some scientists now prefer the three-domain system, which categorizes organisms into Bacteria, Archaea, and Eukarya.

Why do scientists prefer using the metric system rather then the English system to make measurements?

The metric system is an international standard for all countries. So they can be understood by scientists all around the world. It also goes up in regular intervals in multiples of 10 eg there are 100 centremetres in 1 metre and 1000 metres in 1 kilometre. whereas the English system goes up in random numbers. eg 12 inches in a foot There is an 'SI' unit for each quantity measured. eg length is metres weight is grams. then the prefix denotes what proportion of the SI unit it is. eg kilo means thousand so you know for any SI measurement if it has kilo in front of it then it is 1000 times that unit. a kilogram is 1000 grams!! in not sure that made sense but yea. i think SI means standard international but im not sure. also the metric system units all are interlinked eg 1 milliliter of water has a volume of 1 cubic centremetre and weighs 1 gram cool eh? ny way sorry for the super long answer... :-)
