Why does my Kyocera phone keep beeping?
Re: Kyocera K312P (MetroPCS) and similar models:
If your Kyocera cell phone is beeping every few minutes (a
single beep about 3-5 minutes apart) it's because you crossed
signal towers with it and the phone goes into this annoying beep
sound whenever the phone has to search for a new signal or doesn't
recognize a new tower (according to the Kyocera technician I spoke
to). Problem is the beeps don't go away after the phone has a good
signal. Don't go crazy trying to disable all your alert and alarm
sounds because this won't help.
Here's what you need to do: remove the phone battery, wait a
minute or two and then replace the battery. End of problem. Don't
worry, you won't erase your contacts or phone settings. This
shouldn't happen again until you go out of tower range again (I
know, it's a hassle) so do the battery trick again if this
happens.
Bonus answer: If you don't like that sad smiley face on the
clock display there's nothing you can do about it. It's for the
"push to talk" function and means you have no contacts stored for
this feature (or aren't subscribing to the service).
Last one: If you have a red dot icon with a black horizontal
line across the middle on your MetroPCS phone this is a Metro
software icon and Kyocera doesn't know what it's for (neither does
Metro apparently). Just have to live with it. I miss my Samsung
phone.
