You should investigate the accreditation of any school you want to attend for two main reasons. One, if you ever want to transfer credits, you might be disappointed if you attended an unaccredited school. The credits are useless at an accredited school. Two, an employer may only hire you if you have an education from an accredited institution. Don't get ripped off and make sure exactly what that accreditation means. Anyone can dream up an accreditation and make their school look legit.

Do not get ripped off by what I call 'scam schools'!

Is a diploma more important than a degree?

A diploma is simply a document that indicates you have completed a degree. ==Addition== The above answer is absolutely correct. At my college the diploma indicates the student has completed a program of study and is therefore awarded a degree. That being said, there are colleges that offer diploma and certificate programs of study. For example, one may wish to complete a diploma program leading to a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Another may wish to complete a certificate program in Interpreting for the Deaf. A certificate program is really designed to supplement or enhance an already existing degree, where a diploma program may be designed particular to a career field from the very start (such as the LPN). The question of which is more important - a Diploma or Degree - depends on the one pursing it. In other words, is a degree in Liberal Arts more important than a diploma in Practical Nursing. The real question is, which one satisfies the need? Which one will bring the individual closer to the overall goals and objectives sought? Viper1
