What is the meaning of the word muscular endurance?
The ability of a specific muscle to fire for an extended period
of time.
For example, high repetition squats require muscular endurance
in the quads, hamstrings, glutes, and calves.
For short term endurance in these muscles, you would use lighter
weights and aim for 2-5 minutes of squatting, which would usually
be 20-100 reps, depending on your speed. For long term endurance,
you'd lose the added weight and go 20 minutes or more. But most
people would find 20+ minutes of squatting uncomfortable, so using
aerobic activities such as running or stair climbing to gain long
term endurance is often preferable.
