Check that. There's only one even Prime number. That number is two. Every other even number has two as a factor, so they can't be prime.

What is a prime number times a prime number?

A prime number times a prime number is a composite number. Since prime numbers, except for 2, are odd numbers, a prime number times a prime number is usually an odd number. It will only be an even number if one of the prime numbers is 2. A prime number times a prime number will be a number with four factors unless both prime numbers are the same, in which case it will be a square number with only three factors.

How do you work out a prime number?

A prime number is a number which is only divisable by one and itself, for example 2,3,5,7,11,13 However it is essential to remember that 2 is the ONLY even prime number and 1 is not a prime number because it is only divisable by itself prime numbers are mostly odd numbers.

What is the whole number greater than 1 with only two factors 1 and itself?

Two.A number with only two factors, one and itself, is called a prime number. The only even whole prime number is two. Your question implies that there is only one whole number greater than one which is prime, however, since odd numbers are whole numbers, and odd numbers (but not even) are prime, there are infinite prime numbers (since no one has checked each number to infinity to see if it's prime, and, obviously, never will, most assume that the list of prime whole numbers is not finite). Examples are 3, 5, and 13. 9 is an example of an odd number which is not prime.

In how many ways can 47 be written as the sum of two prime numbers?

It cannot be. If 47 is the sum of two prime numbers, one must be an even number and one must be an odd number, because that is the only way to have a sum that is an odd number, such as 47. The only even prime number is 2. The number that with 2 will have a sum of 47 is 45. However, 45 is not a prime number. Therefore, there are not two prime numbers that have a sum of 47.
