Very adequate, nothing to be ashamed of. An IQ of 100 is considered "average" meaning that supposedly, an equal number of people of the world will have a score below and above 100. A score of 120 means that there should be quite a few MORE people with a score BELOW. College courses are (or at least were) designed so that a person with a 120 IQ should have no problem. Don't worry, the kid is ok.

IQ tests are a combination of general knowledge and reasoning skills. Therefore a younger person who is considered very smart, should still do well on an IQ test as their reasoning skills should be better, even if they do not do as well on general knowledge part. 50% of the population will score between 90-110 on an IQ test. This is considered average. Therefore you could maybe expect to gain a couple of points as your general knowledge increases and put you into the next score range: 15% of the population will score between 111-119. Overall I would say to 105 is a very respectable score for 15 years old. You would need to score more than 130 to be up in the very high range - only 2% of the population get this high.

90-110 is standard. You may need a specialized test for a child so young.

100 plus or minus 10 is considered average. You're right where you are expected to be, in other words, perfectly normal.

90-109 is considered average. However, it's 10% aptitude, and 90% attitude. If it's in your heart to do something, you can do it. Never let an IQ or aptitude score indicate what you are capable of. If you keep the dream and give it direction, you will do it.

I would agree with the implication that anyone of IQ of 105 is reasonably bright, but intelligence-tests are poor indicators of ability. They tend to be mainly puzzle-solving questions and do not indicate learning ability and academic prowess. You might fall by the wayside or exceed all expectations.

However I disagree totally with the notion that anyone can do anything merely by "heart" or by giving dreams "direction", for you also need aptitude, as well as good teachers and genuine help. If you do not have the innate aptitude for anything, be it an academic subject, a sport or an art, you will never "succeed" (whatever that means) in it, certainly not excel. In fact such well-meaning "encouragement" is one of the worst things you can say to someone who is struggling, for it is intensely patronising, insensitive, demoralising and demotivating; potentially making the victim feel a failure just as much as if you call him or her a failure outright.
