The 327th Squadron, along with the 325th, 326th & the 407th made up the 92nd Bombardment Group. The 92nd flew B-17s as a part of the Eighth Air Force, based in England. Drew Field was located near Tampa, Florida. The 327th was never based there before going to England in July & August 1942. Most likely the mechanic trained at Drew Field before being sent overseas to join the 327th. Richard V. Horrell WW 2 Connections.com

Corporal, 315th Service Squadron, Army Air Force. (These was no US Air Force during WWII, not until 1947. From 1941-47 it was the Army Air Force).

Ronald Reagan brought us "Supply side economics" which reduced the taxes on business so they could use the the money to re-tool themselves and grow. It worked well and 30 million new jobs were created. The boom he started lasted through even the Clinton years. Reagan also didn't like Communism, and called The former USSR government "evil", and demanded the removal of the Berlin wall, which they were forced to do. He also re-built the military that was gutted by President Carter. He also decreased the number of terror incidents against Americans because of his strong military approach. He understood that till this day Iran has declared war on us. This was done in 1979 and is in place still today in 2009. He also attempted to gut the EPA, turn over our national forrests to logging companies and he also wanted ketchup classified as a vegetable for school children receiving free or reduced fee lunches to indicate he cared about their nutrition.Great!Remember what Regans anti environment ,secretary of the interior James Watt said...after the last tree is felled god will return.James watt under Reagans direction, refused to accept outside conservation groups money to protect federal lands,he as well attempted to de -Authorize National parks so that they could be pilloried by special interest groups.these are the types of people Reagan surrounded himself with.Look up Iran-Contra for example, where under qustioning ,Regan nor any of the other of the law breakers could remember any of it ever taking place.Reagan remains an anti Government Conservative Icon to this day. he lowred taxes
I suspect that it was shortly after the first helicopter takeoff. Early attempts at helicopter flight were extremely risky and some designers/pilots resorted to tethering their aircraft to keep them under control and at a minimum altitude. There is an excellent book on the history and physics of rotary wing flight called "The God Machine", by James R. Chiles and published by Bantam books in 2007. It is a relatively easy read and will not bog the reader down with obscure helicopter terminology. The first Helicopter School in the US was at Freeman AAF, Seymour, Indiana. The first helicopter crash there, was 06/28/1944. While attempting to hover, the pilot lost control and the helicopter tilted sideways with the rotor striking the ground.
