Take the length of the rectangle and multiply it by the width.

For example, if I had a rectangle with two sides 4 inches in length and two sides 3 inches in length, then the area would be 4x3, which equals 12 square inches.

You have to add up all the side of the shape.

E.g 2cm + 2cm + 4 cm + 4cm would = it. If it was a four side shape.

All you have to do is add up all the sides and that's it.

Most rooms are rectangular. So, if the length of the room is L metres and the width is W metres then the perimeter is 2*(L+W) metres.
