How much food can they have in one day?

A few flakes of hay of oat, alfalpha and other mixtures a day is the norm for any horse, doney, mule etc. But free range along with this is best so they can have a complete diet. I used to make sure they had access to thistle bushes and their coats would remain very glossy from eating the thistle flowers and it was funny to watch.
