No. The Circle is. The Circle is common in all of those trusses as well, the Triangular shape is made up of tubular steel. The Circle has no weak points like the Triangle. The Triangle is weak at the center of the flat sides and the joining of the points. Unlike a Rectangle a Circle will not collapse. A Circle distributes any force applied to it across it's entire surface. Force on a Triangle is carried by it's points.

Old answer:

YesYes, it is. The triangle is common in all sorts of building supports and trusses. It is strong because the three legs of a triangle define one and only one triangle. If all three sides are made of rigid material, the angles are fixed and cannot get larger or smaller without breaking at the joints, unlike a rectangle, for example, which can turn into a parallelogram and even collapse totally. If you take a rectangle and place one diagonal piece from corner to corner, you can make that strong and stable, too, but doing that makes two triangles!! Think about it! so yes, it is the strongest shape

What is the second strongest geometric shape?

It really depends on what kind of strength you are looking for, a triangle is the strongest shape when rigidity is what is needed (so when you want to have a strong cantilever structure or a general structure that can resist a variety of stresses). It's difficult to say what might be the second strongest shape in such circumstances, but maybe a triangle that is not equilateral, but this is an over simplification. An octet-truss is the strongest structure for cantilevering because of the strength of the triangle However if its 'hardness' you're looking for, or resistance to purely compression, a tessellation of hexagons is your strongest shape, and therefore perhapse an irregular hexagon is your second strongest. A lorimerlite framework is the strongest truss under compression because of the strength of hexagons.

What is the strongest polygon?

triangle is the strongest polygon

Why are triangles used in the Navajo bridge?

A triangle is one of the strongest shapes for construction. A square or rectangle can deform into a parallelogram when loaded with weight, but a triangle cannot change shape without breaking one of the sides.

What is India's shape of land?

India has a triangle like shape.

What makes the Eiffel Tower rigid?

In geometry, the triangle form is the most rigid. The length of the sides define the shape of the triangle and anything made of triangles will maintain that rigidity. Looking at the Eiffel Tower you will notice that the whole structure is composed of metal beams meeting to form triangles. The metal beams themselves are made of smaller triangle structures.

What is the strongest point of a triangle?

Any one of the three angle points where there are small triangles seeing that a triangle is the strongest shape currently know to man. Considering this is an equilateral triangle.

What shape made out of straight pieces is strongest or most rigid?

The most rigid shape that you can make out of straight pieces is the triangle.

Which shapes and designs are the strongest?

The triangle is the strongest geometric shape, but it's two-dimensional. Applying the idea (via cross bracing or the like) to construction is something that has been done for centuries. This is a simplified answer as the question is very general, but the application of a triangle or an angular tie to strengthen vertical elements and add rigidity to a structure is something that can be seen frequently.djsfjegythgeydgtryeg

Why is a traffic cone a cone?

The strongest shape in nature is the triangle. A traffic cone has a cross section of a triangle. This would give it strength especially when knocked into by the traffic.

Why is it said that while designing a roll cage try to form as many triangular sections as possible?

The circular, domed, or egg-shaped are the strongest in resisting compression. It's not that easy to assemble these curved shapes. The triangle is the next strongest shape. The more you have, the closer you are to the dome shape.
