3D is when you are required to wear the glasses to see the images that will appear to be in 3D, meaning that projection of the images appear to move toward or away from you.
IMAX simply has a way better resolution than a normal theater movie thus it can be played in a way bigger screen and the audio is usually superb as well.

I believe that Imax 3D uses what is called "rotational polarization" whereas Real3D uses something else. 3) From experience, I find Real3D to result in better colour and crisper images, but not as much depth as Imax 3D. Imax 3D sometimes has overlapped images, but of course it must work in a much bigger theatre.

IMAX and domestic television are two very different things. While there are many fine 3D televisions to choose from, none will appear the same as an IMAX image.
