A few problems here.

8.12 is a decimal, not a fraction.

GCFs apply to whole numbers, not fractions.

You need at least two numbers to find a GCF.

There is a chance you meant to ask how to reduce the fraction 8/12. Find the GCF of 8 and 12, which is 4. Divide 8 and 12 by 4. Get 2/3. Smile broadly.

The question strikes out twice.

1). "Common" means "same for both". There's nothing 'common' about one single item,

and there's no 'common' factor to find until you have two or more numbers.

2). These elementary exercises in concepts deal with factors of whole numbers,

not factors of fractions.
