Ex Find gcf of 36x3 and 54x2

just look at the coefficients .... 36 and 54 can be divided by 2,3,6,9,18 ... largest is 18 ... x3 and x2 can be divided by x and x2 largest is x2

so GCF is 18x2

2 and 4 are common factors of 8 and 16, but neither one is the GCF. Having two common factors does not necessarily mean that one of them is the greatest common factor. If one of them is, it will be the larger one.
