AnswerAlthough most people think that it is the Amazon, I'm sure I heard that it is in fact a huge coniferous forest which goes around the globe near the North Pole, through Russia, Canada, Scandinavia etc. just below the tundra line.

--

Its called the Boreal forest or Taiga Forest (pronounced Tiger) and composes 1/3 of all the trees in the world. Taigan trees start growing above the arctic circle where they take more than 50yrs to grow bigger than a sapling because they only receive sun light for 1 month per year. The taiga is found throughout the high northern latitudes, between the tundra, and the temperate forest, mostly from 52°N to 66°N, but with considerable regional variation and reaching 70°N in some areas. The Taiga generates enough oxygen on its own to regenerate all the oxygen for the entire planet.

CONFIRMED: It is the largest forest in the world. But it also is one of the puniest forests in terms of tree size. But it is the forest with the greatest impact on Carbon Dioxide levels, affecting them in yearly cycles. And, usually, it is just below the tundra line.

Further Info:

Parts of the Taiga are undergoing clearcutting, despite the puny tree size mixed with a great affect on the earth's climate. In Canada, less than eight percent of the boreal forest is protected from development and more than 50% has been allocated to logging companies for cutting. 80% of the boreal forest products from Canada are exported to the USA. Primary products are:

-Toilet Paper

-Normal Paper

-Kleenex Tissues

-Cardboard

-Furniture

-Chip Board and other wood building materials

-The paper on dry wall

The importance to recycle everything that originates from wood, and, especially, buy recycled paper is very evident. As for toilet paper questions might rise on the sanitary value of recycling it, but a consumer should at least buy recycled.

Virtually all paper can be recycled indefinitely. Wood can be reused or turned into paper.

The soil in the boreal forest tends to be poor in nutrients. Forest fires clear out the tree canopies, allowing sunlight to invigorate new growth on the forest floor. For some species, wildfires are a necessary part of the life cycle in the taiga and can allow it to regrow to it's original point is around a decade. Clearcutting permanently removes nutrients from the soil in the form of trees. It could take DECADES for it to recover. Maybe even over a century, since the growing season is short there, but standards are enforced. Most companies that harvest in Canadian forests are certified by an independent third party agency such as the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), Sustainable Forests Initiative (SFI), or the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). While the certification process differs between these various groups, all of them include forest stewardship, respect for aboriginal peoples, compliance with local, provincial and/or national environmental laws, forest worker safety, education and training, and other environmental, business and social requirements. The prompt renewal of all harvest sites by planting or natural renewal is also required.

contrary to common belief the largest forest is not the rain forest. the largest forest is the Boreal forest that raps around the top of the earth through Russia Canada and others. it is a coniferous forest and unlike the rain forest it is not being cut down at a dangerous rate. so the continents with the largest forest is North America and Asia.
