The simplest way to go about this, so you know you did not make a mistake is make a factor tree to find the LCM of both 40 and 18
so for
40
8-----5
4---2
2--2
LCM = 5*2*2*2
for
18
6----3
3---2
LCM = 3*3*2
LCM for 40 and 18 = 5*2*2*2*3*3=360
LCM would equal the LCD if you were using this to find lowest common denominator! LCD=360
so for 40 you would have to mulptiply 9 times and for 18 multiply 20 times!
Hope this helps!
LCD(2, 24) = 24
If those are all denominators, the LCD is 360.
The LCD of 1/3 and 1/8 is 24.
lcd of 18 and 16 = 144
LCD(20, 6) = 60
LCD(2,6,8,24) = 24
LCD(18, 21) = 126
1/3 and 3/8 have a lcd of 24 (8/24 and 9/24)
24
LCD(5, 18) = 90
Rewriting input as fractions if necessary: 5/8, 2/3, 3/4The least common denominator (LCD) is: 24.Rewriting as equivalent fractions with the LCD: 15/24, 16/24, 18/24Ordering these fractions by the numerator: 18/24 >16/24 > 15/24Therefore, the order is: 3/4 > 2/3> 5/8
18 is.
