Koekohe Beach near Moeraki in north Otago in the South Island of New Zealand. is known for its large spherical boulders that appear on the beach as the mudstone around them weathers and erodes.

They are septarian concretions, and are also found on some areas of beach on the south shore of the Hokianga Harbour in the North Island, as well as in other locations around the world.
