First you must find the least common multiple for the denominator and the numerator then you divide the numerator and the denominator by the least common multiple and you have your answer.
For Example: 8/20 the least common factor for both numbers are 2 so then you have to divide it into both numbers 8 divided by 2 is 4 and 20 divided by 2 is 10 so the answer is 4/10 but you could reduce it to a smaller fraction then you do the same thing again and you shall end up with the answer of 2/5.
