They are long and can be many different colors. Some are black, and a lot are striped and sort of look like coral snakes, but with different colors. Try going to: === === and entering "kingsnake"

Garter snakes are sooooooo widely distributed across the world they have a variety of different colours. Their size is about 24 inches long and pretty thin around. Their colour usually ranges from yellow, white , red, dark green with brown spots sometimes. Watch out though they're venomous! BUT the venom is literally harmless to humans so no worries. I've even seen black on some of these snakes though.
