To change an inward-swinging door to an outward-swinging door, you would need to remove the door, turn it around and affix it to the opposite side of the door frame. The mounting hardware will need to be removed from its original location and moved to the other side of the frame.
I would say 1 of your door switches are bad or your door doesn close all the way.
I just had this happen to my 2004 Grand Cherokee Limited. I turned out to need to replace the wire from the driver door into the car. Additional Info: This is a common problem for jeeps. As the driver's door is the most frequently used, the wires in the door harness have a tendency to kink or break. The same thing happened to my 95 GC Laredo.

check an inside switch that would turn it on and make sure it's not all the way on, to the left I think if it's on a rotary knob, or the wire came off a door post pin so that when the door is closed the light would go off, but not if a wire is off.

Residential doors are normally 6'-8" tall. The door frame would be another 3/4" taller than the door. A rough opening height for a door would be 82 or 82-1/2". This allows for the door jambs, space or a sill under the door and room for adjustment.

Turn off rocker switch on top console. This disengages power and at this point you can use door as a manual door. Clean the contacts of the door and door panel. You will see 8 metal contacts. Clean them with alcohol and the door will stay closed
If your problem is that the door keeps opening and doesn't want to latch shut, then what I have been doing is carrying a piece of 3M scrubbing pad and use that to scuff up the contacts on the door and the door jam contacts. Then the door functions properly for another month or so. There is a recall on the automatic sliding doors and it involves them not latching.
