There's no simple answer unless you are talking about modern circulating coins. Since 1968, mint marks on all U.S. coins are near the date, with a few exceptions:
Near the edge on the reverse, just above the eagle's wingtip.
They are made of several different metals, including steel, copper, aluminum and silver. Many are made of some sort of core (steel, copper, gut, or various plastics) and then wrapped with aluminum or silver. Often the upper two strings (A and D) are steel, wrapped with aluminum or silver, and the lower two (G and C) are gut or perlon wrapped with aluminum or silver. Try different types of strings to find the sound and feel you like best.
Depends by what you mean "valuable" coins dated 1964 and before are 90% silver and worth at least $11 (at the time of writing) in silver content. Silver half dollars dated 1965-70 are 40% silver and worth $5 in silver. Half dollars produced for circulation dated 1971-present are copper-nickel and only worth 50 cents. There are many key dates and dates worth more than silver melt, however the list is large and so it would be easier to either ask for the key dates of a certain issue (Ex. key date walking liberty half dollars) or ask the value of a coin (1963-D Franklin Half Dollar)

It's simple. A 1922 S silver dollar will have a S mintmark while a 1922 D silver ill have a D mintmark. The mintmark is located on the reserve below the word "ONE".
Unless you find someone that wants it, the value is only for the silver in the coin, about $28.00.
$17-$450 depending on Condition.
1921 was the last year for Morgans, so 1922 is a Peace dollar. It's worth about $27.
A 1922-D Peace Dollar in very good condition (VG8) is worth: $20; if its mint state is MS60, its value increases to: $35.00
1922-D isn't a rare date and so it would be worth about $25-30 depending on condition if circulated or up to $40-50 if uncirculated.
Assuming the coin is circulated, the 1922-D Peace dollar is a very common coin with retail values of $16.00-$22.00 depending on the grade of the coin.
If you mean a mintmark? and it has one, it's on the reverse just above the tip of the eagles tail
The US did not mint a dollar coin in 1968, therefore you don't have a 1968-D silver dollar.
A 1978-D Eisenhower dollar has no silver in it and is only face value.
Each silver dollar is worth at least $30 in the worst possible condition. You will want to get the value of each individual coin. See the related questions below.
