β 19y agoIf I am reading your question right, you can do this. Just parallel the outlets to the device already switched by the 3-way switches. The outlets will turn off and on by the switches. Watch that you do not overload the switches or the circuit.

β 19y agoYes, you can tie into a 3-way switch at the end of the run to add additional outlets by running a new wire from the switch to the desired location for the new outlets. It's important to ensure the circuit can handle the additional load and install the outlets according to local electrical codes. It may be helpful to consult a licensed electrician for this type of project to ensure safety and compliance.

No, you should not add sockets to a cooker circuit. Cooker circuits are designed for a specific load and adding sockets may overload the circuit and pose a safety hazard. It is recommended to install a new dedicated circuit for additional socket outlets.
You can consider using power strips or extension cords to add more outlets temporarily. If possible, you may want to hire an electrician to install additional outlets to meet your needs safely and efficiently. Remember not to overload circuits to prevent fire hazards.
The most likely explanation is that the circuit is overloaded. Adding two additional outlets can cause too much current to flow through the circuit, resulting in voltage drop and potentially causing the outlets to show reduced voltage. This can happen even if the breaker doesn't trip because it is not drawn enough current to meet the tripping threshold. It is recommended to distribute the load evenly or consider installing a new circuit to support the additional outlets.
You can use an extension cord with a power strip or a surface-mount outlet box to add additional outlets without tearing out drywall. Another option is to use wire mold raceways that can be mounted on the surface of the wall to run new wiring for additional outlets. Consult with a licensed electrician to ensure safety and compliance with building codes.

Request? Certainly. You can request anything; you could request that the landlord provide you with a new car every year. However, realistically, if the apartment was within code when it was built, and has been reasonably maintained, then the landlord is not required to add more electrical outlets. Rewiring an apartment is a large expense, and not one that most landlords will be willing to incur.
