Not advisable. With any long run of electrical cord, you are reducing its current (amps) capability and there will be a voltage drop. Power strips need to be plugged into a wall outlet only. If not, the electrical cords could get hot and start a fire. Yes just make sure that the rating of the extension cord is at least 3 conductor # 14 wire and it has a U ground pin on the plug that goes into the wall.

It is generally not recommended to plug a power strip into an extension cord. This can increase the risk of overloading the circuit and causing a fire hazard. It is best to plug the power strip directly into a wall outlet.

There are two things I do not recommend the use of: space heaters, and extension cords! Both are so dangerous if not used properly. More than one home has burned while one or both was being used. Having stated this: if you absolutely have to use an extension cord on your AC, be certain it is rated for MORE THAN what the AC draws. Get one that is as short as possible, one that has a ground, and that is RATED for a HEAVY DUTY APPLIANCE.Also, put it where it won't be subject to damage. And never run it underneath a rug. I just cannot stress this enough!!

You CAN but it that would be a huge fire hazard. It's called daisy chaining and its an easy way to burn a building down. Don't do it.

Yes. However, if you plug in too many devices you could overload the circuit and trip a breaker.

Can you plug a power strip into a generator to run multiple items?

Yes, you can plug a power strip into a generator to run multiple items, but it's important to ensure that the overall power draw of the devices plugged into the power strip does not exceed the generator's capacity. Be mindful of the total wattage of all items connected to the power strip to avoid overloading the generator.

Power strip trips then goe back on is this safe?

A power strip that trips and then resets itself could indicate an overload situation or a faulty strip. It is not safe to continue using the power strip without identifying and addressing the root cause of the tripping. It's important to troubleshoot the issue to prevent potential electrical hazards such as fires or damage to your devices.

What tools and materials used for assembling extension cord?

Materials would consist of extension cord cable, male and female cap ends. The tools would consist of a screwdriver that will fit the termination ends screw configuration and a pair of wire strippers or a knife to strip the extension cord wire.

What does a 15 amp continuous duty rating mean for a power strip?

A 15 amp continuous duty rating for a power strip means that it can safely handle a constant load of up to 15 amps without overheating or causing damage. This rating ensures that the power strip is designed to handle sustained use without any issues.

Does this just plug in an outlet?

You can plug the air conditioner into any outlet in your home, however you should get an outlet strip to protect against power surges. Yes, this HDTV plugs into a normal electrical outlet or power strip.

Is plugging a vacuum into a power strip bad?

A power strip normally has a built in breaker, so this is not a bad idea. Keep in mind though, you won't want to take the chance of tripping the breaker if you have a computer plugged into the strip. In this case, plugging directly in the wall would be recommended.

Will the USB power strip hubs ac dc external power supply adapter charge laptop computers batteries while they're both plugged into the laptops?

Yes, the USB power strip will charge your device when plugged into a laptop.

Which devices should not be plugged into a UPS?

Answer: Any device which exceeds a computer's VA/Watt rating should not be plugged into the outlets. Most printers can be plugged into a power strip. A laser printer, however, should be plugged directly into the wall.

How many rechargers can be plugged into a wall outlet?

One for each outlet. If it is a duplex outlet, that would mean two.If you're asking how much power can be used in a single outlet, that would depend upon the branch overcurrent protection, the distance to the panel and what other loads are already on other receptacles on that branch. It is certainly possible to plug a "power strip" into a receptacle and add as many rechargers as you want to, until the circuit breaker on the strip pops or the fuse or circuit breaker at the panel trips. It is generally a violation of fire code to plug another power strip or extension cord into a power strip.

What benefits from being plugged into a power strip?

The Smart Strip Power Strip features advanced circuitry that not only offers excellent power surge protection and line noise filtering, but is actually able to 'sense' the flow of electrical current through the strip's control outlet. Because of this unique ability, the Smart Strip can turn off selected equipment when its not in use -- creating benefit that no other power strip on the market today can offer.

If I want to know the amperage for each outlet on a power strip can I simply divide the total amps by the number of outlets?

If you want to know the amperage for each outlet on a power strip then check the nameplate current on the device that is plugged into that outlet on the power strip. Power strips usually have their own breaker that will trip at 15 amps. If you load the strip to its maximum capacity there is a good chance that it will trip before the distribution circuit breaker will trip. You can not simply divide the total amps by the number of outlets as each device will have a different amperage and depending on where it is plugged into the strip these amperage's in a set position will change.

Why do some computer auto start when power cable is plugged into the socket even though the power button is not turned on?

A power strip (also known as an extension block, power board and by many other variations) is a block of electrical sockets that attaches to the end of a flexible cable and allows multiple electrical devices to be plugged in. As such it can be considered a type of trailing socket though that term is more often used for single and double cable mounted sockets. The term is also used to refer to the complete assembly with the power strip on one end and a plug on the other. Power strips are often used when many electrical devices are in proximity, such as for audio/video and computer systems. Power strips often include a circuit breaker to safely limit the electric power flowing through them.

How much power can I pull through an extension cord, and how long can a chain of them be?

The power a single extension cord can handle depends on its rating, typically 15-amp or 20-amp. As a general rule, avoid connecting multiple extension cords together as it can increase the risk of overheating and fire hazards. If you must, limit the chain to one or two maximum and use heavier gauge cords for longer lengths.

Tips To Lower Your Electric Bill?

There are many ways to lower your electric bill, but here is one that will not only save electricity, but save your appliances. It becomes second nature quickly. Put everything that has a constant light or clock on it, on a power strip and turn off the power strip when you're not using it. How many amps can a 18guage wire carry for 120VAC decorative lighting use Chrsistmas lights plugged end to end?

usually the box the lights come in tell you how many strands you can put together for 1 plug. the common number is 3 strings of lights per plug so if you get a power strip you can put 3 strings of lights in each plug and if it is a 4 plug power strip you can put 12 strings of light into the power strip
