Litres or Cubic Metres. 1m3 = 1000 litres
and that volume of pure water has a mass of 1Tonne (1000kg)
Millilitres and cubic centimetres are often used for small volumes: 1ml = 1000cc.
Note on spelling: these are all French inventions & words so I stick to French spellings, which also avoids occasional confusion. Meters measure; metres are measurements!
