"kg" is a unit of mass.

You can measure the weight of an object with a scale. Once you know its weight,

you can convert the weight to mass, if you know the acceleration of gravity in the

place where you are. The same mass will have different weights in different places.

For example, if you have a rock with 1 kg of mass, it'll weigh about 2.2 pounds on Earth,

but only 5.8 ounces on the moon.
