A tonne is a metric weight measurement and a gallon is an imperial/English volume measurement and as such, the two cannot be directly converted.

However, a rough approximation can be made from the fact that a liter of pure water is a kilogram in mass, and we assume that milk OS roughly the same as pure water (in fact it isn't but it is an approximation!)... therefore, since there is 1000Kg in a metric tonne, we can say it is roughly 1000 liters.

Now just convert 1000 liters into gallons using one of the conversion calculators at http://www.metric-conversions.org/volume/liters-to-gallons.htm

It depends what the stuff is made of - it could be Mercury which is very heavy! For water, though it's 264.172 gallons (metric ton and US liqiud gallon). There are so many variables in it though - like US, UK and metric tons - so I recommend http://www.onlineconversion.com/
