"Pint" is a unit of volume or capacity, as of a bottle or a balloon. "Yard" is a unit

of length or distance, as of a piece of rope or a trip to grandma's house. The two

units have different physical dimensions, they're used to describe measurements

of completely different quantities, and neither one can be converted into the other

one. If they could, then it would be possible to calculate how many inches of gas

your car burned on the way to the Golf course, and how many gallons your drive

went off the first tee.

There are no pints in a yard, as "yard" is a unit of length, while "pint" is a unit of volume. The two are not directly convertible into each other.
