The cost is more than its worth.
For starters, I doubt that you'd find a seller to sell you 1000 metric tons. And if you used multiple sources, you'd pay more for it over time (demand rises + less supply = costs increase)
(Not to mention the cost to securely transport and/or store and protect it.)
