That depends on the type material you are referring to. Also, these are two different types of measurements. One is volume the other is weight or mass. Please edit your question to include more context or details.

You can't compare them like that because a pound is a unit of weight and a gallon is a unit of volume. Pounds describe how heavy something is and gallons describe how much something can hold. However, for some perspective, a gallon of water weighs about 8 pounds. But, a gallon of a different liquid may weigh differently.

Different units of measurement, altogether. One is a measure of weight, the other is a measure of fluid volume. If you're referring to aircraft fuel consumption, a pound of Jet A, Jet B, etc. is typically 8 - 9 lbs. per gallon.

No, a gallon is a unit of volume measuring liquid capacity, while a pound is a unit of weight measuring mass. They measure different things and are not equivalent.

A gallon of feathers, or a gallon of lead?

Gallon measures volume. Pound measures weight. A gallon of lead will weigh much more than a gallon of air. So a gallon cannot be converted to pounds.

No, a gallon is a liquid measurement and a pound is a measure of weight. The only time a gallon would equal a pound is if you have a liquid whose density is 1 lbs/gal

There not the same. A pound is how heavy a thing is and a gallon means how big you can something hold.
