No.. you dont have grands of sand, if you mean grain....
Let's say for the present queston it is a medium-grained sand averaging about 0.2 mm (0.02 cm) in diameter. Assuming the grain is an approximate sphere, the volume is about 5 x 10^-6 cubic cm. The density is 2.65 g/cubic cm.
2.65 * 5*10^-6 = 13 * 10^-6 g, or 13 micrograms.
do it yourself to make sure I didn't make any conversion or other errors.

One milligram is equivalent to one thousandth of a gram. An example of a milligram would be the weight of a typical small paperclip or a single grain of sand.
There is 1 milligram in one milligram.
1/1000 of a gram is one milligram .
There are 1000 micrograms in one milligram.
1 milligram has 1,000 micrograms in it. That's why it's the bigger one.

A milligram is one-thousandth of a gram. A milligram is smaller than a gram.

A feather, a paper clip and a US dollar bill each weigh one gram on average, one milligram is 1/1000 of one gram. Things that weigh approximately one milligram include:The brain of a worker honeybeeA very small snowflake (though they can weigh up to 500 milligrams)One typical dose of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), minus the paper used to deliver the doseCONTRARY to what you read, 1 milliliter of water weighs one gram!! Typically a milligram of anything is almost impossible to see with the naked eye unless your really close up and know what your looking for.
Milligram (1 gram = 1000 milligrams)
A centigram is 10 times larger than a milligram.
