a meter is 100cm a normal ruler is about 12 inches.

1 inch is defined as exactly 2.54 cm (note no more decimal places that is what an inch is)

100cm/2.54 = 39.370 inches

therefore inless you have a yard stick which is about 1 meter then a ruler isn't even close
