The unit is kilogram (1000 grams).

Kilograms (kg). You can also use prefixes (though remember that the kilo- in kilogram already is a prefix): gram, milligram, etc.

The tonne (or 'metric ton') is also used for very large masses. 1 tonne = 1000 kg.

The value is the amount and that of course would depend on what item you are measuring!
