heat
Most often: energy
Remove energy from a gas and it usually liquefies, remove energy from a liquid and it usually solidifies.
These changes of phase always occur with a change of heat. Heat, which is energy, either comes into the material during a change of phase or heat comes out of the material during this change. However, although the heat content of the material changes, the temperature does not.

∙ 13y agoNothing is added to matter to change its state. The behavior of the particles (molecules) determines its state of matter.
The particles in a solid are tightly packed (particles are locked into place)
The particles in a liquid are close together (particles can slide pass each other)
The particles in a gas are well separated (articles can move pass each other and change volume)
Energy must be added or removed to change one state of matter to another. For example, adding heat can melt a solid into a liquid, and then adding more heat can vaporize the liquid into a gas.

∙ 13y agoThe answer to this would be energy. When energy is removed from water, it changes its state to become ice. the same concept applies to adding energy. the water boils and becomes water vapour.

I believe "heat"To change from one state of matter to another state of matter heat is added or taken away.I think that makes sense!
heat
tempature
This process is called a phase change or a change of state. It involves the transformation of matter from one physical state (solid, liquid, gas) to another through the absorption or release of energy.
When matter undergoes a chemical change, the composition of the matter changes. When matter undergoes a physical change, composition of the matter remains the same.

A change in the state of matter occurs when heat energy is added or removed.
Change of state.
The change from one state of matter to another is called a phase transition.

Matter I think I'm not 100% shure but it say in my book matter in one state often can change to another state by adding or removing thermal energy
heat
tempature
For a substance to change from one state of matter to another, energy must be added or removed to break or form intermolecular forces. The temperature and pressure conditions must also be appropriate for the desired state change to occur, such as melting, boiling, or freezing.
