a Cartesian Plate is the graph system you use in elementary school. it has 4 quadrants I, II, III, IV. going counter clockwise starting at the top right corner. when you do graphing in school like bar graphs, your using quadrant I. the origin is the center point, (0,0). and you have to label the x and y axis. in highschool its used mostly for system of equations and triangles etc.

hope this helps

A Cartesian plate, also known as a Cartesian grid or coordinate grid, is a two-dimensional grid that is formed by horizontal and vertical lines intersecting at right angles. It is used to locate and plot points in a coordinate system using x and y coordinates. It is named after the French mathematician and philosopher RenΓ© Descartes.
