Short answer: Metric System - grams; English system - pounds

Long answer:

There are two different measuring systems. One which mainly the US uses, the English units of measurements (feet, pounds, and gallons). Another is the Metric System, which the res of the world uses (meters, liters, grams).

In the English system mass is measured in pounds. This is different than what people normally think of as pounds. When some on says "That weighs X pounds" they are saying it weighs the mass * acceleration due to gravity (32.17 ft/s2 ). This weight is in a unit called pound force.

The Metric System is a lot easier. Mass is measured in grams, the weight would be measured in Newtons.

You need to name the two units. For example, 2.2 pounds is about 1 kilogram.
