The largest instrument is the Pipe Organ. It contains (in some cases) thousands of tuned pipes that emit various sounds from very soft to quite loud. It has been called "The King of Instruments" by some. Comprised of anywhere between one and six keyboards, plus a pedalboard for the feet, it takes a fair amount of talent to play.

Mostly it depends on your opinion. The top 5 Instruments in the world are The Piano, Not The Violin, The Flute, Clarinet, & Trumpet. Saxophone exam entries are certainly on the increase but I'm not sure they have reached the top 5 yet.

I believe it's the Wanamaker organ in Macy's or else the Boardwalk Hall Auditorium Organ. Which one is bigger depends on how you measure them. The Wanamaker Organ is in much more playable condition, so I'll count that one. I can't think of any other instrument that is bigger than 2 orchestras, like this organ is. (I looked glanced through the instruments it contains and didn't feel like adding it all up. It's probably well over 3 orchestras in that organ)

The largest musical instrument in the world is the "great Stalacpipe Organ" which is located in the Luray Caverns in Virginia, USA. It uses stalactites to create music when struck by rubber mallets.
