It depends on which style of racing you would be reffering to.

Top-fuel drag cars, for example, have a much higher top speed and acceleration than F1, but lack the ability to steer at those speeds.

Also, I believe Indy cars (very similar to F1) also have a higher top speed than F1.

It depends on the track, assuming you are talking about a track. For gravity tracks, it will depend on the length, initial drop height and straightaway to incline ratio. Different tracks will (and do) have different champs.

Also, cars will show considerable variation between duplicates of the exact same model. Some cars are just faster than others.

In general, look for decent weight, a straight and smooth roll and not too narrow of a wheel base. Also, the FTE wheels are pretty good, as are old redlines, ultrahots and hot ones.
