∙ 16y agoGenerally very little because it is so cold and dry. Most of Antarctica is far from any water as a source of moisture. Additionally, the poles tend to be far from the Polar Front, which is really the only thing to get air rising in these regions aside from orography. Therefore, it's hard to get any precipitation at all. Finally, because cold air can hold so little moisture, there isn't much moisture to squeeze out in the form of snow. This isn't quite true on the Antarctic Peninsula however, which juts out into lower latitudes and can be quite stormy (and not so cold).

∙ 13y agoAntarctica receives little rainfall in 1 year. About 35-50 centimeters of water is received in Antarctica. It may sound strange, but Antarctica is also considered a desert, a landscape/ region that receives little or no precipitation.

∙ 10y agoThe average snowfall over the whole continent is around 166 mm (6.5 inches) per year. The high interior gets very little snowfall (50 mm or 2 inches), but parts of the Antarctic Peninsula receive more than 600 mm (2 feet).
The largest amount of snowfall recorded in Antarctica is 1,200 centimeters (472 inches) in a 12-month period at the Soviet Union's Vostok Station.
