Though doors seem to take little importance in our lives, they're more vital to us then our everyday cup of coffee. With several uses and many types, doors turn out to be the number one most used object today.

Doors are a multi-functional movable barrier of many shapes and sizes and are used for many reasons. They are located everywhere, on walls, structures, vehicles and furniture such as cupboards, fridges, and stoves. Doors on different items have different uses. Most doors are on walls to divide property and keep out thieves or other people entering a certain room. Other doors, like the ones on closets, are made to hold storage without letting it leave it's given place. A door frame is also the best place to hide while in an earthquake.

You can easily see now that doors are very important and are a basic necessity in life. Without them life would be for many reasons much more rigorous. First, there would be less privacy and safety of valuables. Second, There would be no point in building structures, for there would be no limit to what comes in and out, anyone could enter. And since doors make living in structures possible, without them people would most likely live in the mountains or caves.

Windows seem to be almost as important as doors but they are different enough to be separate inventions. Windows are only made to look through without hot/cold air entering a building/vehicle. They are much weaker than doors and provide minimum protection. Even the bullet-proof glass does not provide as much protection as they say it does. A 50 caliber rifle can easily penetrate it, while some doors can resist bomb blasts.
