The smallest predator known to man is the Brazilian pygmy gecko, which feeds on insects and small invertebrates. It measures only about 3.5 centimeters in length and is found in the Atlantic rainforest of Brazil.
When we "look" at the smallest things known, we must consider the group of subatomic particles. The tiniest units of matter exist in this quantum mechanical world. As we're still sorting out some things here, it may be hard to be more specific. But let's nominate the electron neutrino, a fundamental particle, as the least massive of the particles in that group.
The smallest atom in the second row of the periodic table is helium (He). It has an atomic number of 2 and consists of only 2 protons in its nucleus, making it the smallest atom in that row.
