59 should be 5/9 ie 5 divided by 9

Celsius = (Fahrenheit - 32) x 5/9

eg if Fahrenheit = 113 then

Celsius = (113-32) x 5/9

= 81 times 5 divided by 9 = 45 degrees celsius

I still think that for people who don't always have a calculator with them, taking the Celsius temperature as a percentage of 180 and adding 32 is easier to do in my head than dividing almost anything by 9 and multiplying it by 5.

The formula to convert Fahrenheit to Celsius is (Fahrenheit - 32) * 5/9. The fraction 5/9 is used to convert the temperature difference between Fahrenheit and Celsius scales. Multiplying by 5/9 adjusts for the difference in scale intervals between the two temperature systems.
