Scientists use the Celsius (or Centigrade) scale, which has zero at the freezing point of water.

Scientists use the Kelvin scale, which starts at absolute zero. Answer REALLY!!! Scientists use all of the scales, but avoid Fahrenheit. Fahrenheit is not preferred, but it is cited in some cases to provide a "translation" for others who may not be familiar with Celsius. (Even a scientist in the U.S. will probably tell you the room temperature in Fahrenheit.) Celsius is preferred by scientists, but so is Kelvin, particularly for extremely high temperatures. All are used, but Celsius and Kelvin are preferred.

The Kelvin scale, named for Lord Kelvin. Or the celsius scale.
The official unit in science is the kelvin, but worldwide, the degree Celsius, also known as Centigrade, is also often used.
