∙ 13y agoThe fact that all units for measuring the same attribute are multiples or factors of 10 (or 1000, which is 10*10*10). And since we count in tens, all that is required is to move the decimal place left or right.
For example,
1 kilometre = 1000 metres = 1,000,000 millimetres = 1,000,000,000 micrometres.
Easy!
Now try and remember these conversion factors:
1 mile = 8 furlongs = 1760 yards = 5280 feet = 63360 inches.
Not only that, but with the metric system, similar names (and relations) apply to volumes, mass etc.
With the Imperial system, its a whole new set of factors/multiples for mass, and yet another set of factors/multiples for volume.

∙ 13y agoThe Metric system is based on powers of 10, making conversions between units simple by moving the decimal point. In contrast, the English system involves non-uniform conversions between units, which can be cumbersome and less intuitive.
In mathematical terms, the metric unit for time is the second....abbreviated s. For example, a mathematical equation may look like this: 1N= 1kg m/s
Bushels are a unit of measurement in the English system, not the metric system.
The teaspoon measurement is commonly used in both the metric and English systems. In the metric system, a teaspoon is equivalent to 5 milliliters, while in the English system it is equal to about 4.9 milliliters.
Because the metric system bases all of its units of measurements on powers of ten, it is much easier to perform mathematical calculations with the metric system than with the English system, which uses a variety of seemingly random ratios of one unit to the next. A mile is equal to 5,280 feet. A yard is three feet, a foot is twelve inches. And so forth. It makes for needlessly complicated calculations.
The English system of units, also known as the imperial system, is used primarily in the United States and includes units like inches, feet, pounds, and gallons. The metric system is a more widespread system of measurement used internationally, including units such as meters, kilograms, and liters. The metric system is based on powers of ten, making conversions between units easier compared to the English system.

English: pound. Metric: kilogram.
Metric to English conversion is a good thing to practice.
metric
A meter is metric.
the 2 kinds of mesurement are english-metric & metric-english
The english system is the metric system. There is no difference.

We learned the metric system in math today.
