β 15y agoThe French decimal metric system is taught in British schools. Nonetheless, all signs on roads and walkways must be in the Imperial metric system (miles, yards, feet, inches); height signs may also include metres. All beer, cider and milk is legally required to be sold in pints. Fruit, vegetables and meat are generally quoted in pounds and ounces, often with kilo quotes as well. Also, weights for packaged goods are frequently given as gramme equivalents for what is really an amount in pounds and ounces (eg package label gives 227gr of coffee, which in fact is 1/2 lb).

because it produces the most convenient number, is the square kilometer.
The official number is 78,772 of them.
People typically use square kilometers (km²) to measure the area of Scotland.
